it was amazing

Favorite Stegner so far, beautifully written. I was fascinated by the characters, the way Stegner slowly reveals information about Susan and Oliver through their grandson Lyman's research and narration. I loved the two stories, Lyman's own life reflection as he writes about his grandparent's flawed marriage. Each of the characters were so richly described, felt so human in their strengths and weaknesses.
