If this doesn't get the 9-15 year old boys (and girls) reading, I don't know what will. "Night of the Howling Dogs" was fast paced and exciting. It kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for what was coming next and you just knew that something big was just around the corner. Graham Salisbury did a great job in building the suspense. I liked how it slowly begins as a scout camp out that is going to be rough, then adds the element of conflict with the addition of Louie (who antagonizes the main character Dylan), then you add into the mix the eerie appearance of the dogs and their mysterious legends, and then KAPOW! "it" happens. I really liked how they all worked together in the end. That this story is based on an actual event is a huge bonus.
