bookshelves: mystery, historic-novel

Superintendent Hannasyde and Sgt Hemingway are called into the murders in the Kane family after the second death. Silas Kane's death may have been an accidental fall from the cliff but not the shooting of Clemment Kane while he was working in his study. This leaves James Kane, the next in line to inherit the estate, concerned that the killing may not be done.
I liked the 'all things American' enthusiastic, Timothy, who takes up helping the police with their investigations. He is a much younger half brother to James Kane and staying at the house with Silas at the time of his 'accidental' death so is keenly involved with every act and avidly comparing it to his beloved films.
