really liked it

Ah, Luke is back and this time so is Lee Grant's real brother, Smithfield, aka Smits. Luke's world gets more confusing as Haddix continues to create scenarios that are full of shades of grey. She refuses to put her characters into easy situations where the choice between right and wrong is easily defined. That is what makes this series so intriguing. On one hand, it is a fairly simple, straight foward story, but on the other, it allows for deep thought and conversation. In addition to the issues of trust and knowing right from wrong, Haddix explores what it means to be a family in ways that everyone -- young and old alike -- can understand.
