[Confessions of an Economic Hit Man] is in parts interesting, often alarming (or sickening?), but, unfortunately, mostly a bit of a slog. After abandoning reading for weeks under the oppressive weight of the book, I finally freed myself by deciding not to finish it. I do think John Perkins raises important issues, I wish he'd done so a bit more concisely and, perhaps, with a bit more balance. I appreciate the inside view, but, as much as I am inclined to dislike and distrust big corporations, I am sure the picture is not as one-dimensional as he describes.
