Peregrine Book 7 is exactly where I gave up! If the ending is worth the reading to get there, I'll go on. The writing just flowed in Books 3-5; there's a good story amid all the turgidity of the series. Mat is my least favourite character too. My favourite parts have been with Perrin and with Aviendha, oh, and Loial!

Jon Loial was completely absent from this volume, unfortunately. I'll have to review my status updates to determine how many chapters Perrin garnered, but I think it was only two or three. Aviendha had a handful of chapters if I remember correctly.

Trisha I loved this book, but I too struggled with the prologue, esp. the first scene. I could have written it so much better ;)

Ironic you should say you enjoyed the Mat scenes. I found them pretty awful, because I don't think Sanderson wrote Mat properly. Mat isn't THAT much of a misogynist usually.

And since when to characters say 'Aye' in this world?! Since this book, I guess.

Still, the novel ended on a note of such relief for me I could overlook all the bad ;) And I LOVED Egwene's part in the book.
