Engaging, fast read, adding fiction to the Bible stories of the five women Mathew mentions in Jesus's family tree to add more flesh, blood, and breath to the stories. Most of the fictional touches worked for me, but sometimes they did not, and I felt some of her personal touches detracted from or skewed some of the meaning of the stories. I expected Ruth would be the best story, but it was the most disappointing. The idea of Naomi being an old girlfriend of Boaz and Boaz being so homely (considering her previous story about his parents portrayed them both as drop-dead gorgeous) added nothing to the story and were left-field and rather annoying, so I couldn't imagine why the author wanted to cheapen a great story with this soap opera stuff. Most of my friends who read this series pretty much agree the story of Rahab was their favorite, and it was mine as well. I would have given this book 5 stars but for Mrs. Rivers crapping on Ruth. What was she thinking!
