it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction, fantasy
Read in August, 2009

Lynch doesn't disappoint in this follow up to The Lies of Locke Lamora. The book seamlessly picks up directly after the Lies.

This book still gets 5 stars from me, however I do have two complaints... One, I am not a huge fan of nautical themed books. So the parts where Locke and Jean are learning how to pilot a ship, is well, a little boring. However, Lynch does manage to pull back and forth between Stragos' orders and Locke & Jean's current situation. Two, I missed the flashbacks with Father Chains. There is only one, very brief flashback.

Some of the things I really loved about the book are of course the relationship between Jean and Locke, as well as Lynch's ability to twist and turn a plot. Again, as with Lies, I had no idea where things were going to turn up and I loved that about this story.

I can't wait for the next installment (sadly I will have to until January 2010).
