I was annoyed by the heroine from the first pages, but then it dawned on me that author is probably as annoyed with her as I am. Probably around the time Lucy went to see psychologist - it then became apparent what made her that way and why she's doing the thing she does.

It's funny that all characters are so cliche - big-breasted blond, Scottish girl, drunken Irishmen, big girl, hot guy, etc, etc. But they all fit in with each other, they fit into setting, and they are very real. If you look around you and stop thinking that cliches are so bad, you'll see people just like those characters. And those characters, just like real life people, have something behind their cliched faces.
