This book makes me want to go back and give 4 stars to every book I gave 5 stars to. Seriously. This book changed my life. As many know, I'm already a pretty ethical eater, but this book taught me so much and really shifted my view on our food industry and the food i eat. Unlike other books I've read on the subject, I didn't feel like I knew most of it already, or that so much of it was there for shock value (even though the shocking stuff is true as well). I also didn't feel like the author had his own agenda to promote -- it felt true and balanced and pragmatic. He's not vegan, not even vegetarian, not anything but a guy with a question -- where does our food come from and what's the ecological implication of each food/meal?
I can't recommend this book highly enough, all I can say is please read it. I want to start reading it again immediately, but it's already due back at the library.
