I've been meaning to read this book since Meg Ryan's character in You've Got Mail raved about it, but am only now getting around to it. I'm not sure why I never read it as a child, as it was right up my alley.

This was a sweet story, and the girls were all very likeable and genuine in their desire to help out in any way they could. I couldn't help but be disappointed in the adults, though - Gum disappearing and leaving the girls hanging for so many years, and Sylvia and Nana letting the girls help pay to run the household. I suppose those were different times, but it still seemed sort of wrong to me. Oh well. I'm glad it ended the way it did. And I would pick Petrova. :)
