The Innocents Abroad
by Mark Twain
by Mark Twain
I've had this on my shelf for years and finally was able to pick it up and read it to the very end. I think I most enjoyed his romp through Palestine and comparing his reactions with my own, and his running commentary on the entire genre of guidebooks and how much they do influence your own experience of a new place. It was fun to tag along with such a writer through Europe and the Levant, and an interesting step back in time.
