Well it's better than the last one. Although I still want to poke Bella in the face. Because Jake is lovely, and the middle of the book is fabulous because Bella stops moaning for five minutes and throws herself off cliffs instead.

And then boyo gets himself into trouble and the angst starts again. And Bella is just so mean to Jake because she's hung out with him for the whole fracking book, and then she ditches him for the other guy. Who, so far, has had no endearing traits whatsoever to make him seem like a good literary character - he mopes, broods and is apparently made of marble. Not my ideal characteristics for a life partner of choice.

Yeah, I still have issues behind the premise of this series of books, I really do. I still can't find the hook that is the underlying reason behind the main relationship in these books to exist (other than OMG he's so broody or OMG he's so stunning or OMG she's so mopey) but there are some endearing characters in there somewhere, and they book is surprisingly easy and not entirely unenjoyable to read.

Bella and Edward just make me want to bash their heads together, though, for their total lack of depth in their relationship.
