Scott's writing style still annoys me--I like 3rd person limited, which follows one character, better than the 3rd person omniscient, which tells us what everyone is thinking. I'm also perplexed by the titles, since Flamel isn't the main character in the 1st book and Dee isn't the main character in the second book. But I do like Machiavelli and find him intriguing. (yes, that's a pun).

I think the book picks up steam toward the end and the 3rd book is better than the previous two (so far).
