Sean recommended this to me describing in some detail how awesome it was. I was sure I would enjoy it -- so far I haven't come across a King book that I've disliked -- but I had no idea I'd enjoy it as much as I did. Simply put, the book is fantastic.

Although the book is more firmly set in reality than traditional King, that doesn't take away from the story at all. The pacing of the book is a bit slow, but the descriptions more than make up for the lack of action and lend to the story a deeply cinematic feel.

All I can really say is that the book offers a superb perspective on life itself (The nature of God really is to show up in the bottom of the ninth) and serves as testimony to the truly impenetrable nature of human perseverance.

It really does pay to have icewater in your veins.
