As usual with Furst's novels, there was a lot of background detail surrounding the events leading up to WW II in Poland. The main character is a military attache in the intelligence service. In particular, the detail as to German military exercises and the lead up to the German invasion of France bypassing the Maginot Line gets some attention. Once again, the texture of the times in Europe is well developed, and convincing; an excellent read.
