One of Neil Gaiman's many talents as an author is his ability to take characters and plot elements that would normally seem utterly creepy, and create contexts in which the reader sees them from a whole new direction altogether and they become something else entirely.

He puts this talent to good use in this story, a refreshingly different flight of fantasy in which the dead can be tender and kind, and where coming of age encompasses an epic battle between good and evil - only good doesn't always look or act the way one might think.

I loved this book - it's exactly the kind of story that keeps me in the card carrying Neil Gaiman fan club :)
