This was a light read. Often that is exactly what I am looking for. A good friend gave me this book as a gift because it is her favourite. It's the kind of book that I will read every few years. I loved the characters, and how they changed with the passage of years, before and after WWII. Ms Pilcher writes with a rather old fashioned British attitude, dwelling on simple things that really matter in life. Lovely discriptions of the Cornwall district of England and how unique both the scenery and its people are.
