    <body><![CDATA[Historical events married with a good plot line and rich characters--this is a well-written book. I enjoyed Kent's descriptions of life during the witch-hunts; she did a great job building tension and making me wonder, even though I knew the outcome of the trials, if something different would take place.<br/><br/>This was not just a book about a dark time in America's history, though. The relationship between the daughter and the mother was heart-wrenching, and it managed to be contemporary even while remaining firmly steeped in the past. This was, on a deeper level, a book about family ties.]]></body>
