really liked it

Set in 15th century Florence, this is the story of a young girl, tall and feisty, daughter of a wealthy man, and her relationship with with a number of men, including her father, her brothers, a young artist hired by her father, and her husband. The story includes portraits of the women of the time from her rather simple minded sister to her clever slave. In the backdrop is Florence, at first depicted as the lavish city of the Medicis and then as the plague ridden haven of a religious fanatic. Good read!
