This is a great book on a) the craft of writing and b) a little glimpse into what went into making Stephen King the writer he is today.

The main lessons to draw:
1) You have to want to write. There have to be stories inside that you want to let out, whether to share with others or only for your own satisfaction.
2) You have to write every day. Something. Anything. This is the one I have trouble with. I have the usual excuses - job, social life, etc - but it is something that one can overcome with a bit of discipline.
3) Yo have to make what you write fairly clear and grammatical if you expect people to actually read it.

If you are a writer or want to be a writer, you could do worse than reading this book.
