The first in the Nicki Styx series. Nicki has a near-death experience that totally changes her life by bringing a cute boyfriend Dr. Joe Bascombe, a twin sister that she never knew existed, and a connection to the dead into her life. As she is returned to earth from her trip to the other side, she hears a voice telling her "to do unto others as you would have them do unto you." But the ones she is supposed to help turn out to be dead people. Namely, she has to help her friend and fellow shop owner who is murdered. The ghost wants Nicki's help, but not to cross over -- she wants Nicki to get her boyfriend arrested for her murder, despite his innocence.
