Shift by Jennifer Bradbury

Call home immediately. Urgent.

That’s the message Chris receives at college, but it’s too late. He’s already been found by the detective – not that he has anything to hide, right?

Chris and his best friend, Win, avid bicyclists, decide to ride their bikes cross-country to the west coast. Nearing the end of their trip, Chris gets a flat and Win keeps riding. Chris gets mad and tries to catch up, but never finds Win.

That’s when things get sticky. Chris goes off to college, under the assumption that Win did, too. But he’s wrong.

Win remains missing, Chris is the last person to have seen him alive, and the FBI wants to know what happened.
