For me, this was one of those books which you wish just wouldnt end because you are enjoying it so very much. I loved this book; it was even better than The House at Riverton in my opinion. It is long, but you are so enjoying the story and the characters, being a part of their lives, that when you reach the final page and everyone's story has closure, you long for the author to start another story. I also enjoyed the author's inclusion of Frances Hodgson Burnett as a guest at the garden party. In the book, Burnett had not yet written The Secret Garden, and is assumed to then write the book after hearing of Blackhurst Manor's hidden garden...I thought that was clever, not novel, but just a nice little aside.
