Richard Dawkins, the evolution scientist, makes a compelling case for atheism. Some of his arguments: It is not true to say that the question existence of a supreme being who created the universe is beyond the reach of scientific investigation; a scientific argument can be made that the probability of such a being's existence is very close to zero. It is not true to say that even if God doesn't exist, we may as well believe in his existence; in fact such beliefs have caused immeasurable harm throughout history, and moreover, the very proposition that faith - unquestioning belief without evidence - is a virtue to be respected is inherently dangerous and destructive.
This book is not intended to convert religious people to atheism; it is meant to solidify the latent atheism of agnostics and pseudo-theists among intellectuals, and to begin eroding the stigma attached to atheism.
