I read Speak so fast, I couldn't put it down. Laurie Halse Anderson managed to capture the perfect voice of a pained girl who couldn't recognize herself. Speak says volumes about society, adults, truth and pain. Through this novel you find yourself so drawn into Melinda's world, into her cocoon of self pain, neglect and loss. Melinda is portrayed so well you cannot help but feel what she is going through and understand how tremendous and monumental this point of her life is. Throughout Speak a reader will find themselves enthralled with the narrator's mesmerizing voice and the growth she goes through. From a broken empty shell she evolves and comes to life; this book is amazing and I believe there are many people who may benefit from it.
