Smashed, Squashed, Splattered, Chewed, Chunked and Spewed was a quick read and laugh-out-loud funny at times. I particularly enjoyed the parts about South of the Border, since I live within a couple hours of it; the descriptions of the signs and outside were dead on. I also thought that the parts about Aunt Bernice and her "collection" were particularly funny.

However, I didn't feel that I could relate to any of the characters and didn't feel that I cared much about the outcome of the plot or what happened to the characters in the end. The book was reliant on humor relating to bodily functions, sex, and drugs; I would feel uncomfortable recommending this book to people I know (in real life) for that reason.
