Depression era novel set in the Adirondacks. Jordan Graves is a left-wing artist married to an Austrian who falls hard for wealthy socialite Vanessa Cole. Sexual tension, long-kept secrets, morbid scenes of death and body disposal, beautiful lake vistas and occasionally compelling dialog kept me reading. Jordan Graves would have been believable if he hadn't taken off for months, slept with numerous beautiful women, hacked through jungles and camped at the shores of lake Titicaca- all on the same trip. And an artist with an airplane. Quite a guy.
