** spoiler alert ** Another pulpy mindless escape that just happened to be sitting on my mom's bookshelf when I was bored. Well-plotted, interesting characters, and an interesting plot idea that...

[spoiler:] ...someone might be able to change global relations by kidnapping the U.S. president but not harming him and then returning him safely within a week. Of course, it doesn't work and it wouldn't, but it's a neat idea. [/spoiler:]

If I'm in an airport someday and I see another Baldacci book, I might pick it up. Similar to Dan Brown or John Grisham -- they tell compelling stories that make you want to keep reading but it's doubtful you'll give any of the ideas in the book much thought once you put it down and you're not likely to find any great quotes you want to save in your journal.
