Jess and Leslie are good friends, and it is their friendship that gets them through the tough times with their families, fitting in at school, and living in a poverty-stricken town. But it's when tragedy comes to their friendship that they (and the reader) realize how important true friendship can be.

This is a difficult book in places. The setting and characters are very real, even if the title is in reference to an imaginary place. I'd recommend this book to later elementary, 3rd grade and up.
