Not a typical western. The detail and characters in the story pull you in so deep that you think about them even after reading. A powerful story of the consequences of relationships, especially friendships. Beautiful and poetic, yes there is a love story in it, but also violent, brutal, and very real. An adventurous drama, there are many tense moments followed by redemptive twists. Skip the movie. The experience of reading the book far surpasses the movie experience in this case.
