The beginning was a little too long - too much background into his broken relationship. I guess I was wanting more out of this book in the way of the travelogue, not the relationship that lent itself to the world tour. Not that the relationship part was uninteresting or poorly written, I just wanted more travel stories. His travel stories were not even quite what I was expecting but what I got out of it was some tips for travel. I learned how to get out of tickets and demanded bribes. But more so, his emphatic imporement to get rid of the travel guide and seek out those places that are recommended by those who live where you travel. His point was this - imagine you meet a traveller in your town. What would a travel guide tell them to see, and where to eat? What would you tell them to see, where would you tell them to go eat, where would you tell them are the best ways to get around? Probably a little different.
