really liked it
bookshelves: muslim, good-conversation

This was an interesting novel about being caught between old world and new world cultures, expectations and norms. Our group enjoyed the reading about a Muslim woman’s life from her personal perspective of the immigrant experience. This book is recommended.(Review by Newton-1)

Well received by all members. The story of a young Sudanese widow living in Scotland, the book showed a rich dichotomy in the cultures represented, and the struggle to find common ground. The experience of the main character was received as something that was relevant for many in our shrinking world, under current global conditions. (Cambridge 1)
