There are a few good stories in this collection, but I must admit, I've been spoiled lately by contemporary authors' attempts at hard-boiled literature. The modern efforts seem to try a little harder and have more to show, more originality. There was one amazing archaic synonym for "tchotchkes" buried deep in the center of Hammett's stories, though, and I'd practically read it again to recall which word that was...

Mohammed More originality than the guy that gave the Hard-Boiled detective genre critical acclaim,made it popular ?

Read his collection called The Contintental OP,Red Harvest. He might be more archaic but i doubt any hard boiled writer of today will in the future be compared to him.
