This book is full of "teaching tips" for activities that get students engaged in learning "actively." If you incorporate activities like these into your classroom, students can be engaged more actively. I wouldn't suggest an unending, steady diet of only "active learning"—your brain can be "active" when your mouth is shut and you're listening to a good lecturer. But activities like these are incredibly valuable to provide variety and "processing time" so that students can "chew" on the material they've learned. There's lots of good research that shows the value of such techniques and their suitability to how our brains function.
