OH WOW!!! I loved, loved, LOVED City of Masks so much! It was incredible! The Duchessa especially was such a brilliant character, and I loved the parallel stories - it was interesting to see Lucien in his 21st century London life as well as in Talia. There was a really good balance there which helped even more to hold my interest. I also loved how while it was essentially another world, it wasn't a completely fantastical place: you could believe it was 16th century Italy, with different laws and customs. It wasn't entirely alien, and I appreciate that because often I find entirely different worlds to be a bit *too* much. This one was perfect and I love it! Now to find City of Stars!
