This is an unusual plot centered on Irma, a female book binder and a male mathematician. Irma vanishes, leaving carefully selected collections of books to her various friends and family. The mathematician and pothers of their families try to find Irma by using clues they derive mathematically from these collections of books. It sounds hopelessly arcane, but I really enjoyed it.
