This book frustrated me. I loved the first third of it. Very intriguing plot - three kids disappear in some woods and only one is found, covered in scratches, his shoes filled with blood other than his own, and he has no memory of what happened. Fast forward to present and he is now a murder detective and a young girl has been found murdered in the same woods. I thought the characters, particularly the detective and his partner were well-written, and the possibility of these cases being connected was exciting. However, the story began dragging halfway through and the ending was extremely unsatisfying. I'm fine with not tying up everything perfectly but way too many questions are left unanswered. I can only hope the author will address them in future novels.
