As my friends know I am an avid romance junkie. So while I can read a ton of these type novels-it has to be dang good for me to finish it and then immediately start reading the book again. "Ride the Fire" is one of the top 5 romance novels I've ever read. The author creates extremely human characters who struggle through real-life (in that era) situations and doesn't sugar coat how bad things can get. But she does it in such a way that you can't help but keep reading even when you think that the characters would, and rightfully should, toss in the towel. Which makes it just an even better book when they persevere and gain their own HEA. This one is staying on my keeper shelf.
