A charming and beautifully told story about the lives of a group of people on the island of Guernsey, the only part of England to be occupied by the Germans during WWII. Told in a series of letters between the island's occupants and Juliette, an author looking for the subject of her next book. She is entranced by this group of people, their experiences during the occupation and how books and their literary society helped them through the war. A great book about the love of books. And a great cast of characters. I wanted to move there and live with them too!
This would make a great book club book if you can get past the long waiting list at the library.
