I didn't know much at all about Hellboy until I saw the first movie. I was surprised by how much I liked it. So I watched the second Hellboy movie and liked that one a lot too. Hellboy is rather sexy, in an angry, red sort of way. No, I can't really imagine being in a romantic relationship with Hellboy (well, for one thing, he's not real and for another, I couldn't deal with all that anger...I'm angry enough without having an angry partner), but I do have a bit of a crush on him. I thought the movies were fun, and I was please by the fact that his romantic interest in the movie is not 19 and super skinny. She's like a real woman, and she can set things on fire with her mind! I guess I have a bit of a crush on her too...

But I digress...

I've been wanting to read some of the Hellboy comics after seeing the movies. I ran across this book at my library, so I borrowed it.

This book is huge. I mean, it physically has a large size. That's nice for looking at the art, but kind of unwieldy for reading in bed (which is my favorite place to read).

The stories are all full of mystery and magical creatures and paranormal phenomenon and witches and Nazies--very exciting. The art is lovely, even when it's full of blood and death and explosions.

This book makes for good fantasy escapist bedtime reading.
