This controversial book is not for the faint of heart. And it's definitely not a 'holiday season' read. The crude coupling of the young, innocent protagonist with, quite simply, acts of pure evil was deeply disturbing and left me shaken. I could feel the words manifest themselves physically as feelings of horror. The extreme brutality of the book makes you think, but my jury is still out on whether Kosinski crossed over a line that need not have been crossed for his points/themes to come across.
