I'm not the type to gush much, but this book rates at the top of the list of books I've read this year... This is one I will think about for a long time...

message 1: by Jo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jo I agree! I think the piece that I was aware of for sure, but was brought to the forefront was the reality that in our white skin - we don't have to say anything, we can be still and just not act. Yet the sin of omission can be just as devastating - sometimes even more so for we are perceived to have power and by keeping our mouth shut - we give our support. My kids face things daily that I don't - I am innocent until proven guilty - and that is still not true in America for people of color (especially males). I think about this a lot with the immigration debate that is going on today - I'm realizing I need to stand up and support human kind... The book encourages us to truly ask ourselves where we stand...

Sandy T So many lessons there for us to learn!
