I think I would have liked this book a lot better if I hadn't seen the movie. Not that the book wasn't interesting and I enjoyed more than the movie, but I already knew the story and what was happening. Plus, I only knew about the book because I saw the movie.

Lina and Doon make the perfect couple to make this journey from Ember, the underground city. The city of Ember is an interesting place where the sun never shines and everything runs on electricity (thus the lightbulb on the cover). It would be quite odd if there really was a city like this and I enjoyed imagining myself living in such a place, but I think I'll keep my nice home over living in Ember.

I am excited for the sequel now though because I have no idea what is going to happen.
