bookshelves: icky-sex, sshh-family-secrets, distant-lands

and now i know there is such thing as japanese gothic! i knew japanese horror, but this is more specific: its got all the crumbling mansions and sexual taboos and whispered midnight conversations of my preferred irish gothic, only farther away. and its not bad. the back copy said it was like rebecca meets rosemarys baby, and dana said she didnt understand what that could mean, but after reading it, i do. its not inaccurate. and now i know something dana doesnt know. so thats two things learned. not a bad day...

Dana so, what does it mean?

karen ohhhh thats what you were asking - i thought you were asking about what it meant that i mentioned you. daft girl. well they are both similar in that they have a central female character who is unsure of the intentions of the people around her. everyone is keeping secrets and everyone knows more than she does but she tries to play along in all of them to what may or may not be her peril. and this is kind of like that.
