bookshelves: romance, fiction

Found this as a kid one summer in my aunt's basement bookshelf, when I was bored. I tore through it in a couple of days, and wished it was longer...

Linda Martin comes to the French countyside as an English governess for the 9-year-old comte, Philippe, who is under the guardianship of his uncle. Soon after arriving, Linda meets Philippe's much older cousin, Raoul, and starts to fall in love, though she tries to keep a sensible English head about it. But when a string of suspicious "accidents" start to befall her pupil, she has to wonder, is it Raoul, or his father, or both, who are trying to kill the young compte?
