Once again, a wonderfully compelling story by Lisa See. When I was lucky enough to receive a finished copy of "Snowflower and the Secret Fan" a few years ago, I was immediately immersed in a different time and place. This is what good fiction writing is all about: to bring a reader in a fully realized world that she really cares about and wants to stay in. This book is even more interesting to me than the previous two I read (Peony in Love being the other.)It felt even more interesting because it enlightened me to another time and place set right here in the U.S. during the first half of the 20th century and how Chinese immigrants were treated once they settled in the U.S.
