This may be the first book I've ever bought based on a great review (in Harper's a month or two ago). I was really excited about reading it, but for the first third I was undecided about it--the characters are quintessential hipsters and the style of the book, while clever, felt overly self-conscious. But as the book progressed, the characters took on real life for me (hipsters though they were), and I found myself quite moved at a number of points. So...recommended! But not to people who are annoyed by materialism, fussy details, or New Yorkers.
