This was a very good book. For its time, it must have been amazing! It was an exhilarating read and kept me interested. The ending was a little different and definitely not what I was expecting. It is hard to find a decent sci-fi novel these days. I had always thought that since the movie had been so boring, the book was probably just as slow and uneventful. But it kept a good steady pace, particularly the last half. I couldn't put it down!

One interesting point I'd like to make is about HAL. Interesting idea that everyone seems to rip off, but I don't think it is a coincidence that Clarke named HAL the way he did. If you move each letter of the name down one space in the alphabet, you get IBM. Hmmmm, coincidence? I think not. Nice try, Arthur.
