really liked it
bookshelves: graphic-novel
Read in April, 2009

I liked this graphic novel, I've read better ones for sure but, this is Wilson's first time out with this medium and I appreciated that. Her story is really an extension of the articles she wrote for the Atlantic and other publications. It can come off a little melodramatic at times, however she acknowledges that and wants us to know that is deliberate. The blending of mythology and politics was enjoyable and beneath the seemingly fairy tale surface is a complex commentary on the Arab Israeli conflict, the idea of the "East" and the magic that is very much apart of daily lives. Worth checking out from your local library.
